Medical Care:
Weight Loss Program

Question: Rose , (Philippines) Nov.3, 2009

An effective weight loss program has two elements: a proper diet and exercise. Adjusting food choices to include more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fish will help you to lose weight. Eating slowly has also been proven to reduce the total amount of calories that you take in per meal, so chew your food well. You have to combine diet modification with increase in physical activity. If you are not used to exercising, you can start by taking short walks of 20-30 minutes' duration four times a week. You can build up the duration and frequency as you go along. Increasing your muscle mass by lifting light weights can also increase your metabolic rate, which will in turn help you to burn more calories. There are many websites that you can consult that can give you suggestions on how to lose weight naturally. Remember that this will take time, and anything that promises immediate results should be viewed with caution.

Thank you for your question.
